He is an orphan and a honest & a brilliant surgeon yet, he isn't money minded like the other doctors of the hospital who use their knowledge of medical science for their own personal gains. The character is indeed a well written one. Mohanlal gives an exceptionally brilliant performance as the character, Dr. Such brilliance in sound engineering that too, from the early 90's! It really fits into the overall tone of the film. He used avante garde synthesizers which was primarily used during the time period of 80's english music. The soundtrack was a highly experimental one for Malayalam Cinema. The soundtrack & sound design is so well advanced and still holds up after all these years! The soundtrack was done by the composer, R.Anand. The lighting in most of the frames look classy & vibrant.
It's way ahead of its time! Also, it was the first malayalam movie to use wide angle lens camera for the fight sequences & POV shots which was later used in films like Kalapani and Amen. It's the remake of the 1993 American classic, The Fugitive but that doesn't take anything away from this brilliantly executed film! The cinematography, making style, soundtrack & fight sequences can be considered as 'ground breaking'. I just cannot believe the fact that this movie is so underrated in the IMDb! Nirnayam is one of those rare remakes which actually surpasses the quality of the original movie.
